Adding ductless HVAC to the lanai

Adding temperature control and taking away the damage from the natural elements should help

I want to give my outdoor lanai an epic facelift. Right now the lanai is attached to the house but not the HVAC. The area is screened so we can feel natural breeze. For cooling there is an overhead fan. The rain pours into the lanai a ton due to the screens. The water has damaged the tile to the point it is starting to come up. I want to change our lanai to be more of an indoor spot. I can’t attach air ducts and connect it with our central HVAC. But, I am thinking about getting a ductless mini split for the space. Before I get the HVAC in, I will need to make quite a few updates though. I will need to remove all the screens and have windows instead. The floors will need to be ripped up and new put down. I also will want to take out the ceiling fan. Then the ductless heater and AC unit can be mounted on one of the walls. The outdoor air compressor can be just on the outside of the lanai. Having temperature control will be nice in there. My husband and I like to sit on the lanai and look at our backyard. We sometimes eat dinner there. But, with the wind, water damage and lack of AC, it is not easy. Adding temperature control and taking away the damage from the natural elements should help. My husband is worried that we will miss feeling the breeze. Also, the windows will reflect in a lot of sun and make it hot. He is not sure our ductless AC can handle this demand for cooling.
