I spend a lot of money on air filters in the course of a year, then one of the reasons for this, is because I don’t have a regular central heating in addition to cooling system.
I only have a central air conditioning system in addition to a gas furnace in the basement.
That means 2 different kinds of air filters. The fact that I buy only the best in air filters, mostly HEPA air filters, means that I spend quite a bit. I had recently heard about washable air filters, so I wanted to try them, and from what I read, having a bunch of washable air filters can cut when you spend in half, being able to salvage them a few times before having to throw them in the trash. I am not sure what happened, however I decided to try these washable air filters, in addition to they were horrible! Maybe it was the brand I selected, I don’t know…but these things were not only impossible to wash, but when I started using these washable air filters, our pollen irritations started going off the charts! It was almost prefer the washable air filters were causing extra dirt in addition to dust allergens to flow through the HVAC duct in addition to out the air vents, right into our home! After about a week of this, I decided to return the unused washable air filters to the store in which I bought them from. I demanded a full refund. I actually got the refund after arguing with the store. I may see if HEPA has washable air filters in addition to try them someday. But for now, I am going back to our regular un-washable HEPA air filters!
