Noisy construction next door.

Noisy construction next door.

I will be so thankful when they finish building the house next door.

We are on our house for nearly 15 years and the vacant lot next door was recently sold to developers.

It wasn’t so bad when it started on the far side and we’re building two homes at that end, but now they are working right next door. We have had everything from backhoes to cement trucks coming and going for weeks and now they had a large drilling rig situated behind the house. We don’t have wells in our areas and everyone is on city water so I was confused as to why they needed to drill down so far. My curiosity got the best of me one day and I walked over to ask what they were doing. They said that the new homeowners were having a geothermal heat pump installed and they needed to have that completed before any other installations of HVAC equipment. I had heard about geothermal heat pumps before and how efficient they were but when I inquired about how much they cost I was shocked. It is a huge expense to have this system installed but apparently once you have it the money you save makes it well worth the investment. This is not a system that you would normally have installed after your home is complete in either because it not only disrupts the Landscaping itself but the connections that need to be made can be quite expensive when it comes to construction. I think if we are ever in a position to build another home I may want to consider having this type of HVAC system installed myself. It is much better for the environment according to the people doing the installation the system normally pays for itself over time with the money you save on fuel cost.
