Working in road crews

For a large portion of our life, I have worked in construction.

I’ve diagnosed & help make various buildings, some of which, turned out to be a success; Construction is not a task for the softies, it’s a taxing & oftentimes an overbearing task; You often are pushing yourself to your limits, & the task is in general dangerous.

One of our coworkers had fallen off the roof of a loft he was constructing, however luckily, he was not severely damaged, however my worst injury was when I accidentally nailed our thumb to a board. That was fun. One of the most torturous things about working in construction, is working in the summertime. You have no system what it’s like to be high up on the roof or something, & have the direct sunshine hitting you for hours on end. It entirely feels like someone dropped a one-hundred-pound gas furnace from hell on you. Not to mention the sunburns I have received. Those sunburns know like fire underneath in our skin. My good associate who is in the Heating & Air Conditioning industry talks about fixing a/cs & furnaces & how it can be difficult. I would happily trade him any afternoon to service some cooling systems rather than being burned alive outside, then another fun part of working in construction is the physical effects it has on your body. Construction puts a lot of wear & tear on your body, & you have to be fairly strong to be able to handle it. I have finally retired from construction, & I couldn’t be happier. Although I still cringe when I come across a construction site.
