Ductless heat pump for temperature control in winery

My family has farmed grapes since my great-grandfather first purchased several hundred acres of land in the northeastern part of the country.

Our grapes are used to produce jam, jelly and juice.

A few years ago, my dad and I decided to try making wine from our grapes. It took us awhile to perfect the process, but we’ve created a very tasty wine. We’ve had such demand for our homemade wine, that we are now involved in commercial business and needed to build a winery. We constructed a large enough building to handle everything from processing and fermenting the juice to bottling and labeling the bottles. One of the most important aspects of the fermenting process is temperature control. In this area, the weather is very severe. We deal with fluctuations between eighty degrees and negative twenty. The winery needs to be kept at a consistent temperature between 65 and 70 degrees. We didn’t want to invest a ton of money a large, complex and expensive heating and cooling system. After consulting with an HVAC contractor, we decided that a ductless split system would perfectly provide for our needs. With an outdoor compressor linked to a single air handler mounted up high on the wall, we easily achieve an ideal year round temperature. The ductless heat pump offers both heating and cooling capacity, operates quietly and is very energy efficient. We make adjustments through a cordless remote and trust the heat pump to protect the integrity of the wine. The ductless unit features inverter technology that allows the equipment to adjust automatically to conserve energy and ensure very even comfort.
