Radiant floors offer luxury and cost savings

There’s no need to heat empty areas or live with rooms that tend to feel chilly or overheated

I think that the most rewarding style of heating system is radiant floors. This type of heating is both luxurious and economical. It provides exceptional comfort and control over the indoor environment while trimming the cost of heating. Hydronic radiant floors rely on a boiler that heats water and pumps it through pipes concealed beneath the floor. The heat from the pipes warms the entire surface of the floor and any objects sitting upon it. These objects then radiate heat which allows for lower thermostat settings. Because the radiant system relies on water rather than air, it doesn’t bring in any outside contaminants such as dust, dander, mold spores or other allergens. It is the perfect system to maintain a cleaner and healthier indoor environment. The equipment operates silently and is totally hidden. It takes up no living space, doesn’t look ugly or require the furniture to be arranged to accommodate vents. Radiant heating avoids concerns with ductwork, drafts and temperature fluctuation. The warmest temperatures are closer to the floor, where the heat does the most good. Plus, the easy set up of zone control offers better management of the system. Independent room-by-room temperature caters to personal preference and requirements. There’s no need to heat empty areas or live with rooms that tend to feel chilly or overheated. While the installation of hydronic-style heated floors is easier during a new construction project, it is possible to retrofit into an existing home. Electric radiant floors are less expensive and easier to install but aren’t quite as beneficial.
