I wondered how the system was even working anymore and understood why the place had felt so stuffy

We all like to save money. Well, I should say the majority of us do. When it comes to this the place that we live takes up the bulk of our budgets. Maintaining it and household repairs can be a costly thing as well. If you rent, these items are someone else’s responsibility but when you own your home this falls on your shoulders. My family depends on me for safety and comfort and I do my best to make sure that they are happy. Of late my daughter and wife have been complaining about the feel of the house. At first I had trouble understanding this because I am at work so much that I thought they were exaggerating about the problems. Then I took a week’s vacation to finish up a few projects and I got why they were complaining. The house felt stuffy and just never seemed clean. I know I saw my wife cleaning each day but there was something about the feel of the place that was off. It was then that I realized that I hadn’t changed out the filter in the HVAC system for over a year. Yuck! When I took it out I was mortified at the amount of dirt that was in it. I wondered how the system was even working anymore and understood why the place had felt so stuffy. There had to be little to no fresh air that was getting into the house and it was a wonder that the system was working at all. I changed out the filter and called to have the system inspected. I am hoping that I didn’t damage it because that can be a costly repair that I am not sure I can afford.
