The remote is not for the tv

The remote is not for the tv

My entire life I’ve loved having side jobs.

I’m not satisfied with keeping one 9-5 position, and wasting the rest of my time doing nothing.

I would much rather have several jobs, and to continually earn cash throughout my day and night. As such, one of my favorite money earners has historically been house and pet-sitting. People love to give you money for making sure that nothing is going wrong with their home. I have no problem with hanging around a stranger’s house, and making sure that nothing explodes or get stolen. However, there are definitely certain challenges when you are trying to reside in an unfamiliar home. Recently, I was watching a particularly fancy house that was fully equipped with a large entertainment system and beautiful HVAC system. Before the owners left, they told me that to the central heating and cooling system show the be on autopilot, but I could use any smart thermostat if I needed to. They pointed out that there was an electric fireplace in the study, and if I needed more heat I could utilize the alternative heating source. I was hanging out, watching TV one day when I couldn’t get the volume control to work. I kept cranking the volume up higher and higher, but the TV didn’t seem to respond to my demands. I was in the process of trying to change the remote batteries, when I walked past the study and noticed that it was 10 degrees warmer. I stuck my head inside and saw that the electric fireplace was literally roaring. There was so much heat coming off of it that the rest of the house was slowly climbing and temperature. It took me a minute, but I finally realized that I wasn’t utilizing the volume control. I had been turning up the electric fireplace.
