Sometimes we take things for granted, and I don’t want to be accused of doing that with my HVAC units.
As privileged citizens of a great nation, we rarely take time to think about some of the conveniences and luxuries that we have.
One of these luxuries is the ability to have furnaces and air conditioners in our house all of the time to keep us comfortable. In smaller and poorer nations, they have no electricity or furnaces to keep them warm throughout the day and the night. Either they have to use wood-burning heating systems, or they shiver in the cold without any heating system at all to keep them warm. We take it for granted that we can stay at the same temperature all night because of the furnace, but it wasn’t always like this, and I think that we should appreciate that. Air conditioners add to this because, without air conditioners, many of us would be warm and uncomfortable during the summer. Since air conditioners aren’t a necessity, many of us don’t realize how spoiled we are to have air conditioners. We also live in a country where electricity is cheap and where there are many HVAC technicians that can fix your furnace or air conditioner for a cheap price. We are so lucky to have our HVAC units, and I hope that we take time throughout our day to remember to be thankful. People have worked hard and sacrificed to make sure that we are comfortable. We need to learn not to take these things for granted.
