Installing a ductless system for temperature control in attic workspace

Working from home presents numerous challenges.

For me, scheduling actual time to accomplish my assignments was an adjustment. Sometimes life would get in the way. This was especially true because I have two young children in the house. They don’t understand that when I am working I can’t play with them. If they see me at home, they feel I’m available to ask for one thing or another. For this reason, I hired a nice lady to come in and watch the kids. That way, I can hole up in my small office. My office area is located on the top floor of the house. The area was originally the attic. I have found that the attic is nice and quiet and allows me to get my work done. I’m separated from the kids. The main problem I ran into when converting the attic was the fact that it gets so terribly hot up there during the summer. There is only one window and it is not enough to bring in a refreshing breeze. The Heating and A/C system for the rest of the house was never intended to include the attic. I had to install a separate component for temperature control. My main concern was cooling and venting the area. During the Winter, I am not overly concerned with heating. The attic is only slightly chilly. Heat rises from the downstairs. However, I needed air conditioning to combat the summer heat, humidity and stuffiness. A ductless heat pump was the perfect solution. It was a quick and easy installation process and not over expensive. The equipment is compact, operates quietly and provides effective heating, cooling and humidity control.
