I am from the North in a little town where all the people are close knit.
I honestly didn’t mind the weather so much, but eventually I decided to leave because I got an excellent career opportunity down south.
It took me a long time to adjust to the different climate. Up north everything was fine as long as you kept your heating system in excellent condition. Down in the South though, it’s always so warm for most of the year. We have winters in the South but they are incredibly mild. It turned my whole world around not having to worry so much about the heating system any longer. I rarely turn on the heater even in the middle of the winter because it just doesn’t feel cold to me. The coldest it gets is maybe in the 40s and that’s nothing to me. I can just put on a sweater and I’ll feel just fine. I actually met my wife in the South though and we decided to have a family. These days, we always go back to visit some of my family and friends every year in the North. My kids really love playing in the snow up north, but my wife feels like it is way too cold so she is always anxious to leave back down to where it is warm. I guess my children get their tolerance for the cold weather from me, certainly not from her. Sometimes I wish we could just move back up north, but I know for a fact that my wife wouldn’t be alright with that. She can’t stand the winters in the North and she is always near the HVAC vents or the fireplace trying to keep warm.
