This hotel is old and the heater smells bad

My girlfriend and I like to travel.

  • We work Monday through Friday, and we always have the weekend free.

Sometimes we leave on Friday afternoon and come home on Sunday evening. When we go away for a weekend adventure, we always stay in a hotel. I don’t mind driving three or four hours away from home, but that means packing an overnight bag. We’ve had some pretty awful experiences in hotels, so we always book a room using an online resource. The websites can tell us what other people think about the hotel and the amenities. One time, my girlfriend and I stayed in a hotel that was really old and smelled like cats. The outside looked freshly remodeled, but all of the rooms needed to be renovated. We stayed in a room on the third floor. The floor smelled like pee and the heater smelled even worse. Every time we turned on the heater, and awful stench filled the air. It was enough to make us gag. It was very cold outdoors, so we couldn’t go without heat. We tried to change rooms twice, but all of the odor seemed to permeate throughout the hotel. That was one of the last times that we stayed in a hotel without checking all of the reviews first. We have certainly learned a lot since that first experience, and now we know exactly what we want. We always look for a hotel that has great reviews on cleanliness, room service, and amenities. We want the heater to work well and we want the room to smell good.
