The longer we live together, the more I notice how different we are.
This is probably no surprise to anyone who has been married 20 years.
But, I’m not just talking about my wife. I notice it with my entire family. Does this mean that I am the weirdo? We all live and occupy the same space day after day. Yet, each of us has such different needs. It’s very apparent when considering the HVAC thermostat setting. This has become quite the contentious issue in our home. And, I never remember it being that way at all. It appears that our HVAC needs vary by as much as ten degrees or more. I like for the house to be nice and cool when I come home. We live in an area where the heat is the biggest of our weather concerns. My work often has me out a project sites to help solve unforeseen snags in strategic plans. So, that means I spend a serious portion of my day sweating and dirty. When I come home, I go straight to the shower and then straight to my chair to bask in the HVAC cooling. Well, this is not amenable to the rest of the family, I am coming to find out. My youngest daughter seems to be freezing all the time in the house. This is a similar complaint that I have been hearing from my wife. The boy and my other daughter run hotter and like the cool. So, I brought in the HVAC people to upgrade the current system to zone control. Now, we can each find a place in the house that suits us temperature-wise.
