I’m an HVAC serviceman and I really love my work. My company has a good reputation as an HVAC business. I always look forward to all the new HVAC servicemen we hire. Our company always glad to bring on new professional. This year, we decided to have a little competition. The trainers who could bring the new HVAC workers up to speed quickest, would gain a bonus. There would be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes given out for this challenge. Everyone, including the new hires, were excited to get the challenge going. At the end of the week. the workers would be tested on their knowledge of HVAC repair and have to pass a test while working on an HVAC component in the warehouse. Not only would the trainers get a nice bonus, but the new hires would benefit as well. I worked really hard with my HVAC shadow. I was ecstatic to find that he was sharp. He was picking up everything in no time. Before I knew it, I had him doing a lot of the job on his own and I was supervising. I would tell him if he was doing anything wrong. When we took the knowledge test, every one of us did great. I thought that my team did well enough to win first place. It was close in the end, but we ended up in 2nd place. I was happy with that, and so was my trainee. He was officially promoted to respected HVAC serviceman! He deserved it and was ready to be out there on his own.
