Right now, my husband and I are beginning to have major arguments that are beginning to get more consistent.
I knew that I shouldn’t have deceived my husband about the temperatures that I preferred.
When we were dating, I was trying so hard to compromise for my boyfriend. I wanted to convince him that we had everything in common, and I wanted to be sacrificial. I prefer warmer temperatures, but I allowed him to use the central air conditioner as much as he wanted. My husband prefers the temperature to be around 60 degrees. I thought that this was too cold, but I was willing to let him use the central air conditioner. I figured that once we got married, I would be able to convince him to use the central air conditioner a little more moderately. I figured that he would be willing to sacrifice his favorite temperature since I had sacrificed for so long. Once we got married, I began telling my husband that I would rather not use the central air conditioner so much, and I told him that I liked using the furnace at hotter temperatures. Rather than being understanding about how I sacrificed my favorite temperatures, he saw it as lying. He was being honest about his HVAc preferences, but I had tricked him into thinking that we had the same HVAC preferences. Now, we argue all of the time because he absolutely refuses to compromise when it comes to the temperature that the thermostat is set to. I would have never married him if I would have realized how selfish he was.
