Our air conditioners are being vandalized.

Our air conditioners are being vandalized.

I never thought that I would need to put a cage around my air conditioning unit.

It really boggles my mind to think that people think it is okay to vandalize someone’s home.

Let me back up here and tell you what happened. A neighbor of mine came to our house. She was crying that there was something wrong with her air conditioning. I told her to call the HVAC company but she said they couldn’t help. My wife and I went over to her house, only to be greeted by a mess in her backyard. Someone had forcibly ripped the air conditioning unit apart and removed all of the copper tubing from inside. I couldn’t believe that for a few pennies worth of copper, someone would go to this trouble. They destroyed the brand new air conditioning unit, just so they could get to that copper. I couldn’t believe this was what our economy was forcing people to do. Actually, it was a choice that someone had made, and I was disgusted by it. It wasn’t just a random act either. Two other people had their air conditioners vandalized over the next two weeks. These people had to be caught, but I had to protect my air conditioning unit. During our homeowner’s association meeting, I brought up the subject. I suggested we all put cages over our air conditioners and we also put out a camera. I wanted to get a picture of this vandal, so we could turn him in to the police. In the meantime, we kept an eye out for everyone and we all chipped in to help our neighbors who had already had their AC units vandalized.
