I’m not the sort of person who is trying to settle down anytime soon.
I have a lot of friends who are obsessed with the idea of getting married and having children.
Personally, I couldn’t be less interested in settling down with a nuclear family. I am quite happy being on my own and investing in all of my animals. It can be rather frustrating to have conversations with my friends to feel otherwise. Some of them are downright obsessed with the idea of finding a man who is “husband material.” My best friend Jenny, for instance, is driving me crazy with her obsession over skilled tradesmen. She thinks that she needs to get a husband who knows how to professionally install and repair any indoor appliances. Apparently, she can’t be bothered to call a heating and cooling technician whenever she has settled down with her family. That’s why Jenny is always hanging out at the local trade school. She is stuck on the idea of finding a heating and cooling technician to make her own man. She thinks that if she can score a heating and cooling student now, they will stick with her when they have their HVAC certification and can perform skilled air conditioning and furnace repair services. Everyday Jenny sits at the trade school and waits for the HVAC students to walk by. She’s continually trying to strike up conversations with the future air quality control specialists and flaunting her ringless finger in the meantime. I guess that Jenny is a girl who knows what she wants, but she might as well enroll in HVAC school while she spends all her time there.
