I remember the lake house our parents used to have, it was the lake house us youngsters were raised in.
The people I was with and I used to love running around the property and into the peach orchards.
Well, there was one dire Wintertide I recall when the two of us had this terrible blizzard that lasted for a long while. Our gas furnace ended up failing on us, however luckyly the two of us had the fireplace that permitted us to keep sizzling through the duration of the storm. Even though the blizzard was brutal, it was still beautiful when you looked outside after the storm. The people I was with and I were so thankful to have our fireplace, otherwise the two of us really would have froze to death. The people I was with and I had a superb size stack of wood because for some reason, our father insisted that the two of us all keep splitting wood before that identifiable Wintertide season. It’s almost love our father knew that there would be a brutal storm and the two of us would need plenty of firewood for the fireplace to make it through. A lot of our neighbors did alright with their fireplaces as well through that devastating storm, during the storm, the two of us spent day and night making sure to feed the fire in the fireplace with more wood, so that the two of us would not become cold. The people I was with and I all slept around the fireplace during that time as well when our gas furnace was not working. My parents have since sold that house where us youngsters grew up, however it will always remain in our memory as some of the best times of our life. Even now, I have a fireplace in our lake house because I suppose having a fireplace is pressing for survival, in case the main heating system fails.
