He told us we were going to need to get a new HVAC system, or one that is designated just for the addition.
I couldn’t believe all the work we put into our new home addition. We had been working on it for two years now and it was finally complete. I remember how excited we were when we began installing the ductwork into the ceiling. The next step was putting up the insulation and then the ceiling itself. The electricity had already been run and we knew where every light and light switch was going to be located. We had glass in the windows and the walls were going up. We even had the thermostats marked and wired, ready to be installed. All we had to do was finish our work and wait for the HvAC company to hook our HVAC system into the ductwork. I was so upset when the HVAC technician told us it wasn’t going to work. Our heating and air conditioning was the wrong size to be able to support the new addition. We had an HVAC system that was meant for a 2100 square foot home. We now had a 3000 square foot home. He told us we were going to need to get a new HVAC system, or one that is designated just for the addition. I was devastated and my husband was upset. He looked at me, wondering what I was thinking and I was thinking the same when I looked at him. We knew we had to sit down and discuss the right route to take. This wasn’t going to be a quick decision when it came to the HvAC system and how to deal with it..
