Putting my degree to good use

Putting my degree to good use

While I was in business school, I drafted out a dozen indifferent business models, and blueprints for establishing a new business and making it profitable.

  • I was very good at it, according to my grades, but I was coming to realize that the real world was a lot different than school.

Those projects and assignments were purely theoretical, to demonstrate my understanding of the core concepts, but there was nothing at risk. Out here, it was my money, my time, my reputation on the line as I got my little shop off the ground and attempting to navigate the perilous first year. Thankfully the demand for local A/C repair work was very strong right away, which meant my prediction had proven correct. The next town over about thirty minutes away, and that is where the next closest HVAC contractor was. Having a repair expert locally encouraged a lot of folks to give a call and have a small AC problem checked out. See, a complete breakdown would be worth calling in someone from out of town, but no one wanted to make that call for an HVAC tune up or a funny noise. Not only did we offer every service from AC recharging in cars to ductwork cleanings in old houses, but we also offered a free estimate. A lot of locals were nervous that minor HVAC work would have a not-so-minor price tag, so I wanted to put those fears to rest. I wanted everyone to have the same fair shot at getting reasonably-priced HVAC work done.
