I knew there was an issue with the AC, but the terrible news was worse than I thought

I woke up this morning and there was no air coming out of my air vents. Ii knew there must be a problem with the A/C unit. I want out to the garage where the HVAC device is located. I heard a different sound coming from the top space of the machine. It sounded very much like a grinding noise. I called the heating and A/C company instantly and they told me to turn off the A/C until the worker arrived. They believed continuing to let the A/C run may cause larger issues. I didn’t want to go without any A/C all morning, but my first appointment wasn’t until after lunch. I turned off the system and anxiously waited for the worker to arrive. Shortly after 11, there was a knock on the front door. The A/C worker was there to evaluate the problem. I was cheerful to see the guy wearing a mask and gloves. The A/C worker spent 4o minutes looking at the HVAC before he came to the front to give me terrible news. The blower motor on the A/C needed to be replaced. The repair was going to cost almost $900 if I wanted cool air in the house again. I knew there was an issue with the AC, but the terrible news was worse than I thought. I had very little choice in the matter, so I took out my checkbook and paid for the repairs. I can’t live without any A/C when the outdoor temperatures are in the 90’s. I hope that’s the last A/C repair I have to make until the whole system needs to be replaced.
