When I woke up this morning, there was no air coming out of the air vents; I knew there must be a problem with the air conditioning unit.
I want out to the garage where the HVAC component is located.
I heard a weird sound coming from the top area of the machine. It sounded like a grinding noise. I called the HVAC service company immediately and they advised me to turn off the air conditioner until the HVAC service technician arrived… They believed continuing to let the air conditioner run may cause bigger complications. I did not want to go without air conditioning all day, however the first appointment wasn’t until after 2. I turned off the air conditioner and anxiously waited for the HVAC service technician to arrive. Shortly after noon, there was a knock on the front door. The HVAC service technician was there to evaluate the problem. I was ecstatic to see the guy wearing a mask and gloves. He spent 30 minutes looking at the HVAC unit before he came to the family room to give me terrible news. The blower motor on the air conditioner needed to be replaced. The service was going to cost almost $1,000 if I wanted cool air in the apartment again. I knew there was an issue with the air conditioning, however the news was worse than I thought it would be. I had absolutely little choice in the matter, so I took out my checkbook and paid for the repairs. I cannot live without air conditioning when the outdoor temperatures are in the 90’s. I hope that’s the last air conditioning service I have to make until the whole thing needs to be replaced.
