I knew there was an issue with the A/C, but the news was worse than I thought

I woke up this morning and there was no cool air coming out of the air vents, so I knew there must be a problem with the A/C unit. I want out to the garage where the HVA/C unit is situated. I heard a sound coming from the top section of the machine. It sounded almost like a grinding noise. I called the heating and air conditioning company right away and they told me to turn off the A/C until the worker arrived. They believed continuing to let the A/C run may cause greater problems. I didn’t want to go without A/C all morning, but my first hairdressing appointment wasn’t until this afternoon. I turned off the a/c and anxiously waited for the worker to arrive. Shortly after 1, there was a knock on the front door. The A/C worker was there to evaluate the problem. I was happy to see him wearing a mask and gloves. The A/C worker spent 45 minutes looking at the unit before he came to the living room to give me the bad news. The blower motor on the A/C unit needed to be replaced. The repair was going to cost almost $1,000 if I wanted cool air in the house again. I knew there was an issue with the A/C, but the news was worse than I thought. I had little choice in the matter, so I took out my checkbook and paid for the repairs. I can’t live without air conditioning when the outdoor temperatures are in the 90’s. I hope that’s the last a/c repair I have to make until the thing needs to be replaced.
