The whole system needs replaced

Nick October 16, 2020

When I woke up this morning, there was no cold air coming out of the air vents, and I knew there must be a problem with the A/C unit.

I want out to the garage where the HVAC device is located.

I heard a weird sound coming from the top area of the machine. It was a grinding noise. I called the HVAC company instantly and they suggested that I turn off the A/C until the serviceman arrived. They believed continuing to let the A/C run may cause larger problems. I did not want to go without A/C all day, but my first appointment wasn’t until suppertime. I turned off the a/c and anxiously waited for the serviceman to arrive; Shortly after 10, there was a knock on the front door. The A/C serviceman was there to evaluate the problem. I was glad to see the guy wearing a mask plus gloves. The A/C serviceman spent a half hour looking at the system before he came to the living room to provide me with bad news. The blower motor on the A/C needed to be replaced. The repair was going to cost almost $1,100 if I wanted cool air in the house again. I knew there was an issue with the A/C, but the bad news was worse than I thought. I had honestly little choice in the matter, so I took out my checkbook and just paid for the repairs. I cannot live without my a/c when the outdoor temperatures are in the 90’s. I hope that’s the last a/c repair I have to make until the plan needs to be replaced.
