I had all kinds of financial problems last year, and I ended up having to move back in with my parents back in the summer.
Of course, my parents don’t exactly have a huge house and so there isn’t that much room for me to live upstairs.
They ended up putting me in the basement, but the basement doesn’t have any HVAC ductwork. I guess my parents didn’t really plan on having their kids move back home to the basement one day when they were planning the HVAC system in the house. When I talked to our local HVAC company about possibly running new HVAC ductwork to the basement, I was shocked to find out how much it was going to cost me. I decided that instead of doing that, I was going to go another route. I did some research online and read about something called a ductless mini split air conditioning system that you can use to heat and cool larger open areas like the basement. With a ductless mini split, you don’t have to worry about running any ductwork at all. When I found out about these types of HVAC units, I knew that was exactly what I was going to need to make the basement living situation work out for me. The best part about it was the fact that it would cost very little and it would also be super easy to install and get up and running. I guess having to move back in with your parents isn’t the worst thing that could happen. At least they aren’t going to be charging me rent!
