When we first obtained our up-to-date home, I wasn’t overly glad to have a boiler furnace, i’d always heated my apartment with a gas oil furnace and trusted this type of system.
I didn’t believe anything about boilers.
I mistakenly believed that the equipment would be noisy, dirty, require a lot of maintenance and supply inferior comfort. It didn’t take long for myself and others to realize that the opposite is true, and a boiler is legitimately a hydronic heating program because it uses water to transport heat energy rather than air, and with a gas oil furnace, the vents are officially located in the ceiling. Warm air is blown into the room, attempting to heat the space from ceiling down to the floor! Since overheated air naturally rises, this process is counterproductive and the highest room temperature is normally up near the ceiling. It also creates uncomfortable stratification. A boiler affixs to baseboard furnaces or radiant flooring, and the heat is radiated into the air at the floor level, the room is heated from the floor upward, eliminating swings, drafts and chilly spots. It’s possible to like superior comfort at lower control equipment settings… Because the boiler is a closed loop program and uses the same water over and over, it doesn’t bring in any harmful air contaminants. In fact, boilers are suggested for people who suffer from dust sensitivities, asthma and other respiratory issues. The program runs almost silently and requires only annual upkeep! Plus, a boiler is easily flexible. It can affix to radiators, radiant floors, baseboard heaters, towel warmers and snow melt systems.
