Newman, the goofy-looking character and trademark of MAD magazine is often pictured with the cartoon bubble that says “What, me worry? He represents people who I envy because they truly don’t worry about anything.

Healthy people in the prime of life have few worries because they can recover easily from any physical injury and have the time to recover from a financial loss. They also are so busy with a career and an active social life that they simply don’t have time to worry about things. The biggest worriers are old people who seem to focus on a few pet worries as time moves on. Issues like health and diet occupy some elders while others fret over how their grandkids are being raised. Other people worry about things like their cars and making home improvements to be in a more comfortable house. One thing that people should not have to worry about is their HVAC systems but unlike grandkids and the weather, steps can be taken to take away any worries about indoor air quality. One step is to move into a retirement community and let others take care of HVAC and other home maintenance tasks. Those lucky enough to remain in their homes need to remember three things. The first is to change HVAC filters regularly. Next is to sign up with a qualified, reputable HVAC company with trained worry-free technicians who will service and clean the ductwork at least twice yearly. The third step is to avoid any attempts to perform a DIY repair other than changing filters and the battery in the thermostat. Finally, set up reminder calls with your HVAC company because while seniors worry more, they also remember less. In most cases, this is normal and nothing to worry about.
