Replacing roof improves energy efficiency

Replacing roof improves energy efficiency

When both of us bought our house, both of us realized there were some troubles with the roof leaking. We patched & knew the roof would need to be fully substituted within the next few years… New windows, new water heater, new family room appliances & remodeling the bathroom took precedence, but every time both of us faced a big storm or heavy rains, both of us had to run around & locale buckets under the leaks in the house. We’d find shingles in the garden & sods. We waited as long as possible & eventually had no option but to invest into a new roof. Because of so multiple layers & age, the roof needed to be entirely torn off & substituted. Hoping to avoid rain, both of us tied up the job for the middle of July… The temperature was in the high eighties with excessive humidity, & both of us were unable to run the air conditioner. The house was warm, sticky & dirty. There were troubles with bugs. The roofers started up super early in the afternoon, waking us up with their noise. My whole family was honestly eager for the project to be completed. I expected it to take the air conditioner multiple hours at least to cool the house back down. I was surprised when every room was perfectly comfortable within an hour. Ever since replacing the roof, the air conditioner & furnace don’t need to run as long, work as hard or use as much energy. We spend a lot less on heating & cooling bills. I hope that reducing the workload of the furnace & air conditioner will minimize the option of malfunction & extend the lifespan of the equipment.
