We have a beach house located in the northeastern area of the country plus another in the south.
We take advantage of the best weather in each location. We spend the months from May until sometime in September up north. The late Spring, Summer plus early fall are just beautiful. We keep the windows open plus simply run a window air conditioner in the home office at evening. We avoid the subzero hot plus cold temperatures, bitter windchill plus feet of snow accumulation by living the rest of the year down south… Our southern location offers just gorgeous weather for those six months. Even in the middle of the winter, all of us rarely need to run the heater. Our largest concern is worry over whichever beach house is left empty. If the gas furnace up north should fail over the winter, the water pipes could freeze plus burst. If the air conditioner should quit during the summer, our beach house down south could become overrun with mold growth plus suffer moisture disfigure. There is always the risk of power outages plus natural disasters in either location. Installing a smart control unit in each beach house has helped a fantastic deal. We now have access to temperature control plus information through an app on our cellphones. At any time, from wherever all of us happen to be, all of us can check on the temperature, make changes plus acquire alerts. We get notified if there is a power failure, drastic temperature change or a need for maintenance. It’s also helpful that all of us can adjust temperature prior to our arrival at the house.
