My partner and I split our time between many houses.
All of us have a beach condo located in the northeastern section of the country and another in the south.
All of us take advantage of the best weather in each location. All of us spend the months from May until sometime in September up north. The late Spring, Summer and early fall are just beautiful. All of us keep the windows open and simply run a window cooling system in the bedroom at evening. All of us avoid the subzero rapidly changing temperatures, bitter windchill and feet of snow accumulation by living the rest of the year down south; Our southern location offers just gorgeous weather for those more than five months. Even in the middle of the winter, both of us rarely need to run the heater. Our greatest problem is worry over whichever beach condo is left empty. If the furnace up north should fail over the winter, the water pipes could freeze and burst. If the cooling system should quit during the summer, our beach condo down south could become overrun with mold growth and suffer moisture disfigure. There is constantly the risk of power outages and natural disasters in either location. Installing a smart thermostat in each beach condo has helped a fantastic deal. All of us now have access to temperature control and information through an app on our iPhones. At any time, from wherever both of us happen to be, both of us can check on the temperature, make swings and receive alerts. All of us get notified if there is a power failure, drastic temperature swing or a need for service. It’s also helpful that both of us can adjust temperature prior to our arrival at the house.
