It finally came down to realizing that the cats and dogs were here to stay.
This was not something that I was particularly keen to acknowledge.
Honestly, I just wanted to be able to go back to sitting in my recliner and enjoy the air conditioning after work. But over the course of the past year, my wife and daughter have become involved in animal rescue. The local humane society is horribly underfunded and so my wife and daughter stepped in to fill the void. This has resulted in many good things when it comes to lost pets getting back home. But more often than not, the girls are always trying to find good homes for the dogs and cats. Until that happens, they had been sharing that quality heating and air with us. That’s all well and good but there is a whole lot of work that goes into taking care of this many furry friends. I don’t come home to relax in the heating and cooling of my living room any longer. I’m always getting some sort of list of chores to help out. That’s fine too. But all that fur was having bad results on the HVAC equipment. The air filter was getting clogged all the time and that was making extra work for the HVAC unit. So with the help of some good people in our community, we added a big room to our house. And the HVAC company installed a ductless heat pump in there for heating and cooling the dogs and cats on their own.
