we hadn’t planned for a heatwave, and the lack of air conditioning system in the reception hall
My partner and I had been making plans for our anniversary for almost a year. we not only planned on having the reception all of us never got to have, but we were planning a fabulous honeymoon. It took us nearly twenty-five years to have a reception and honeymoon, and all of us swore nothing was going to stop it from happening this time, but a freak snowstorm unceremoniously ended our first wedding. It had been such an appealing month leading up to the wedding, and no one expected the snowstorm of the century to arrive a few short hours before the ceremony, however the roads were closed and the only people allowed on the roads were emergency vehicles. My partner and I were already at the church and all of us married with just ourselves and our parents in attendance. we spent that night in a hotel that was within walking distance of the church, not even able to get the more than three of us back home. This year, we planned our reception for a time when the weather, other than a possible rain storm, could ruin the afternoon. we hadn’t planned for a heatwave, and the lack of air conditioning system in the reception hall. Luckily, our child had recently gotten her heating and cooling certification. She went right to work on the air conditioning system equipment and had it working within an hour before the guests arrived. When she gave a toast to her father and me, she said she gave us the best gift of anyone, however not only did all of us have the joy of having him as a daughter, however she also fixed the AC equipment so we all could have a real reception with no problems.
