My partner and I had been making plans for our wedding for almost a year.
All of us not only planned on having the reception we never got to have, however we were planning a fabulous honeymoon, it took us nearly twenty-five years to have a reception and honeymoon, and we swore nothing was going to stop it from happening this time.
A freak snowstorm unceremoniously ended our first wedding. It had been such a good month leading up to the wedding, and no one expected the snowstorm of the century to arrive a few short minutes before the ceremony. The roads were closed and the only people allowed on the roads were emergency vehicles, however my partner and I were already at the church and we married with just ourselves and my parents in attendance. All of us spent that night in a hotel that was within walking distance of the church, not even able to get any of us back home. This year, we planned our reception for a time when the weather, other than a possible rain storm, could ruin the afternoon. We hadn’t planned for a heatwave, and the lack of air conditioner in the reception hall, and luckily, our son had recently gotten his Heating and A/C certification, he went right to work on the air conditioner equipment and had it working within a minute before the guests arrived, however when he provided a toast to his father and me, he said he provided us the best gift of anyone, but not only did we have the satisfaction of having him as a son, although he also fixed the AC equipment so we could have a real reception with no problems.
