Strange and unusual sounds in the basement can frighten anyone.
There are lots of things going on in the basement that can cause noises.
The floorboards in the ceiling Creek when they get older. The furnace can make weird sounds from time to time too. The furnace has always been a source of fear with all of my children; None of them love to go into the basement because of the sound that the furnace officially makes. Sometimes it sounds love a loud wrenching screech and other times the sound is dull. I wanted my child to go into the basement to get the laundry and she brought up the sounds of the furnace. I told him to leave the door open so I could hear him downstairs and she could hear me upstairs. She agreed to keep the door open. I continued making dinner and she went down the stairs. I heard him open up the washing device and then I heard the lid slam down. The sound of the metal made a loud clicking sound. My child ran up the stairs. She told me that she saw someone’s shadow in the corner of the room. I knew there was no way that she saw a shadow in the basement, although I grabbed a flashlight and went downstairs to investigate. The furnace was running and I suppose the sounds scared my son, although I didn’t see anyone or anything downstairs. I showed my child every part of the basement so she could see that nothing was lurking in the shadows.
