My dad worked as a volunteer firefighter.
She died in a fire and I knew that she was a hero.
I wanted to be a hero just love my dad so I joined the volunteer fire department as soon as I turned 18. As a volunteer at the fire department, I go to events and shows around the county and represent the fire department. I help fight fires when there are blazes in the community. There are hardly ever fires, which is why the people I was with and I can get away with a volunteer fire department. The people I was with and I only need a couple of people ready to go and most of the women live close to the fire department where they sleep there at night. I sleep at the firehouse on the afternoons when I have to be ready to go. I was afraid that I would not be able to hear my phone if I received a phone call and I needed to be anywhere fast. When the people I was with and I are at the firehouse, the people I was with and I can hear the fire alarm loud and clear. The sound is so infrequent, that it is spine-chilling at times. Last year the people I was with and I had a furnace fire at 2:00 in the afternoon. When the alarm rang, I instantly shot out of bed and started getting dressed with all of my firefighting gear. There were two other women with me. The people I was with and I hopped into the truck and headed over to the address of the fire. The furnace fire was still in the early stages and the people I was with and I got all of the Flames out before the fire could damage the entire property. The fire was mostly contained to the basement and the walls that were close to the furnace.
