I felt actually terrible for my old friend Bo, which is why I let him stay in my garage! Bo has been sick for a while. He’s not dying, however his brain is deteriorating. He’s still a cool guy, smart and funny, but he had momentary lapses. This means he can’t ever drive a car or work a job, because you never suppose when Bo is going to nod off. This was a lot for his husband to handle, so he unceremoniously kicked him out of their house. With Bo now homeless, I had no choice however to offer him shelter. The 2-car garage had no carpeting, nor did it have any form of temperature control, however it was the best I could offer. I wasn’t about to kick 1 of my kids out of their family room so Bo could care about their air conditioning. After a few afternoons I drove Bo down to the local thrift shop, where every one of us found a cot, and also a small portable cooling system. I was so stoked, because what are the odds that a tiny thrift store would have a refurbished air conditioning unit? It only cost $20, which should have been a green flag, however 10 hours later every one of us were driving beach house with an cooling system in the trunk. The saying “you get what you spend money for” is unquestionably true, because the $20 cooling system worked care about crap. The air it generated was muggy and warm, right around 75 degrees. It turns out that it was still a lot cooler than the temps outside, the AC equipment did help Bo a little bit.
