When it comes to woodworking, I feel I’m pretty good.
- I am not a professional carpenter, however I suppose my way around the toolshed.
During COVID I had so much extra time on my hands that I spent a month building an addition to the back of the house. It’s a twelve by twelve room with a cement floor and wooden walls. I took my time, however surprisingly it was not that difficult! After the structure was complete, things got a lot more difficult. Working with a hammer and nails is straight-forward, working with electrical systems, plumbing, and Heating and Air Conditioning equipment is quite complicated. I had to keep the entire room self-contained, because I didn’t have the right skills or tools to connect it to the central power grid or the Heating and Air Conditioning system. I got a small generator for the room, and then found a portable air conditioning equipment for a couple hundred bucks at Target. Was it perfect? Of course not. The cooling system was pretty loud, and could never seem to get the room any cooler than 75 degrees, and for my level of skill this was the best I could do, because the complexities of Heating and Air Conditioning installation are beyond my abilities. If I had the extra money I would contact 1 of the several local Heating and Air Conditioning shops and get their expert opinion on finalizing the temperature control for the room. I don’t have that kind of money, and besides I also purchased this portable air conditioner equipment already, which may not be the best in the world, however it’s better than nothing.
