It’s easy living in a moderate climate.
You can wear comfortable clothing throughout the year without feeling too cold or too hot.
If you want to cool down the temperatures in the house, all you have to do is open a window, turn on a few fans, and enjoy the cool air. You can’t behave the same way in the south where temperatures climb into the lower 100s during the miserable summer season. When I lived in the south for most of my childhood, I had to survive exclusively wearing shorts and t-shirts for much of the year. Sometimes it would get so hot when I played outside with my friends that we’d even go shirtless as long as we had sunscreen on our backs to prevent a painful sunburn. When I visited up north for the first time, I froze on my very first day and it was only October. My wife really wanted to move to be closer to her family and that involved going to the north. My one bad experience had me extremely worried. I wondered if I could handle the ice and the snow. However, my wife tried to assuage my worries by telling me that we would have two separate heating systems in the home where we’d be moving. That made me feel a lot better because I knew I would freeze otherwise with just a central furnace with fan-forced heat. We got a steam boiler and radiant heated flooring and it keeps the house nice and comfortable. I don’t know if I’ll survive here for the long term future, but at least I’ll survive for the next few years.
