My husband and I own a campsite that we go to every year.
We have slowly started upping our camping game.
It used to be that the two of us as a young couple would pitch a tent. We slept in sleeping bags, hiked in the woods, made a fire and roughed it. Once we had kids we needed to up the comfort level. My husband bought an RV that we took to our campsite every year. Teh kids hated it. The RV wasn’t really all that comfortable. My husband was the only one who could drive it. So if we needed anything in town, he had to take the vehicle. It also meant he was taking our toilet, beds, kitchen and clothing. The accommodations weren’t comfortable for sleeping at night. Since camping is a big part of our lives, we decided to invest a little money into it. My husband found a portable facility company online that does shipping container homes. They do tiny homes, mobile kitchens and portable restroom solutions. He talked to them about making an affordable tiny home for our campsite. It turned out to be a really great thing. It is a small home made out of shipping containers and it was dropped off at our campsite. The kids have a room, we have a room, there is a kitchen, bathroom and small dining area. It is very compact but it is quite luxurious for camping. It isn’t exactly roughing it but it does feel like camping. The portable campsite solution has really made it so the kids don’t mind going each year.
