I’m amazed at how effective the little air conditioner heater combination system in my classroom is! My classroom that I teach in is pretty decent-sized.
The classrooms and other rooms in this part of the school have their own individual HVAC systems instead of being connected to the central HVAC system.
The central heating and air conditioning system used to work in these classrooms, but has since fallen into disrepair and was never replaced. Normally, I would complain that the school is not using their budget properly if they can’t fix a central heating and air conditioning system. After all, heating and air conditioning is rather important. However, the solution of simply installing ductless heating and air conditioning systems in each individual room and classroom in this part of the school seems to be working just fine. The air conditioner keeps things nice and cool in the summer. I don’t even have to run it on high. It’s so efficient at cooling the room! The heater works well too, it’s just that it’s almost always better to keep it running throughout the evening when temperatures dip really low. Otherwise, the groundskeeper needs to come around and switch on the heaters early in the morning before classes begin, and it’s not always sufficiently warm in the room by the time the first class starts. However, once the heater starts working in earnest, it ends up being very warm in the classroom. Similar to the air conditioner, I really don’t have to run the heater at full capacity in order to feel toasty!
