My wife kept after me and after me in February about the heat pump.
- We don’t need much, if any, heating from the heat pump.
And I like it like that. I’ve lived up north and gotten a full taste of what a serious Winter is all about. I’ll be happy not to repeat that move again. As soon as I was able, I ran right back here and had a whole new perspective on all that air conditioning. I was eager to leave the long, hot and sticky Summers behind when I took that first job up north. I was working inside the commercial HVAC of a fancy building downtown in a city. This was so different than anything I had grown up with as a country kid. But that life was sure not for me. Just too much of everything. And not enough heating to get me anywhere near comfortable during the Winter. So when Spring comes along, I tend to ignore that fact because I know that the Summer heat isn’t far behind. And that’s where my wife hollering at me to call the HVAC company comes in. I was supposed to call for the air conditioning tune up but I sort of blew that off. This was stupid and I sort of knew this at the time. Still, I totally whiffed and didn’t get the HVAC maintenance done on the heat pump. Sure enough, we needed some cooling this weekend and when I cranked the air conditioning, it came on but it was weird. It only took a few hours before there was a weird metallic sound and then the heat pump went silent. I finally did call the HVAC company. But this was for an HVAC repair and not the air conditioning tune up.
