I swear, I don’t remember battling it out with my brothers and sisters quite the way my kids do.

Maybe that’s just a bunch of selective memory on my part.

But dang, my children are always into each other over the slightest things. It’s getting to the point where I’m going to start acting like my dad did. My siblings and I would really get into it. But once we started shouting at each other or slamming doors inside the central air conditioning of dad’s house, he yanked us all outside. And then, he’d turn the hose on us to cool us down. It was actually sort of genius because we’d all end up laughing and getting over whatever upset was happening. I’ve considered this very notion but have found another way to get some peace in my home. One of the all time points of contention in our home is the thermostat setting. It’s always too much air conditioning, too much heating or not even cooling. There is never a time when we all agree on just where the thermostat should be set. And that is often the tipping point for yet another argument that then ends up being about who wore who’s sweater and all of that. So I had the HVAC company come in and at least take that argument off the table. With some tweaking of the existing residential HVAC, the HVAC technicians gave us zone controlled HVAC. There are now six independent zones with their own thermostats. Remarkably, this has really worked wonders. And I’m actually able to sit in my chair and enjoy some air conditioning without one of my kids hollering at another one of my kids.
