I never considered owning an RV until the last couple of years.
- As a kid I always loved the idea of road tripping in small cars and then stopping to either camp in a tent or stay in a hotel room.
But when you get older you lose the desire to do any of these things and the thought of having an RV becomes really tempting. My grandparents had an RV when I was a little kid. They used to take long road trips across the country so that they could go see their family in British Columbia north of the Canadian border. Back then it was one of those old school RVs that wasn’t particularly nice on the inside like the ones that you find today. They had an old window air conditioner that provided the cool air for the interior. The RVs that you find these days have a myriad of different cooling systems inside. You can even get a ductless mini split for an RV. My RV needs a new air conditioner and I’m considering a ductless mini split this time around. They are a little bit more expensive right now but at least they’re effective at keeping the interior cool during the hottest summer weather. I could not imagine just putting a cheap window air conditioner inside of my RV and calling it a day. I would definitely need something more substantial than a basic window air conditioner for my RV. Sometimes people use portable air conditioners in RVs but they’re extremely inefficient with electricity usage. You can buy two-hose portable air conditioners that are marginally better, but I’d rather invest in a better cooling system right out the gate.
