When my fiance and I moved into our house, the Heating, Ventilation & A/C system was brand new.
We had the paperwork from the Heating, Ventilation & A/C supplier that included the warranty, and the date the furnace and air conditioner component were installed.
My fiance called to make sure the paperwork was right, and then he signed the paperwork for our home. He didn’t want to get duped into thinking our Heating, Ventilation & A/C system was new, when the modern Heating, Ventilation & A/C component was installed into the condo the past owners lived in. The only thing that wasn’t substituted was the HVAC duct. When my friend and I had our inspections done, the Heating, Ventilation & A/C inspector told us it was an excellent Heating, Ventilation & A/C system, but the HVAC duct was disgusting. He told us my friend and I needed to have the HVAC duct substituted within the next year. He pointed out the rust and where there were many small holes and cracks near where the rust was. He didn’t want to poke the rust, because he was afraid of creating another hole, or worse, making a hole already present too big to be repaired. He made an appointment with the HVAC duct cleaners to clean the HVAC duct, and seal the cracks and holes already in the HVAC duct. He said this was a temporary fix, and my friend and I needed to start considering our possibilities for modern HVAC duct. My fiance’s mouth dropped open, and I was devastated. I asked if it would be cheaper if my friend and I obtained flexpipe HVAC duct. He said it would, and it would be more convenient to not have the metal HVAC duct hanging all over. It was still going to be high-priced, even if it was cheaper.
