Have you ever considered changing tasks because the workplace is uncomfortable? I never thought I would be thinking of doing just that however I simply can’t put up with my workspace any longer.
When I took the task nearly fifteen years ago I assumed that I would stay there through retirement.
I toil for the State, have good benefits plus the retirement plan would supply me a good income in my older years. The concern that exists today is one that I don’t see any end in sight. My general supervisor decided that he could save currency in our department by decreasing the temperature in our workspace. Whether it is the heat of summer time or the chilly of winter time he sets the control unit to an uncomfortable degree plus forces us to toil in angry conditions. We spend our mornings dripping with sweat or chilly plus there doesn’t seem to be an inbetween, however as with any government office space there are ways that my associate and I can chop costs plus save the taxpayers currency however I don’t feel that splitting energy bills at the expense of the employees comfort is the best one. Many of us have tried to reason with our supervisor but he simply will not listen. The control unit has a lock on it so my associate and I really don’t have any option but to just deal with it. All of this has made me consider leaving a task that I never thought I would. I will make sure to ask about the heating plus cooling policies at each of the sites that I set up interviews with.
