I went to college in a southern town along the coast.
The summers would get hot and sticky, so I tried to avoid leaving my house at all costs.
I loved the feeling of the air conditioner and didn’t see the point in having to take a chance that the restaurant or bar my friends were going to would be warm. I actually never really like going out to clubs or bars in the first place, they are already to crowded and even if the spot has a working HVAC system it doesn’t always help. I prefered to stay in my comfortable apartment and study. I only ever really left the house to go to the library, which was just a five minute drive from my house. I was lucky enough that my parents didn’t want me to have a job during school so I didn’t have to leave the house for work either, only for school reasons. Then one night a friend from school asked me if I wanted to go to a club opening with her and several of her other friends. I was really hesitant at first, but after about 30 she convinced me it would be fun to go. I went home and got all dressed up to go and then took a cab over to my friends house. Once we made it to the club opening, I really was starting to have some fun. Then my worst nightmare came true. I walk in and the manager said that unfortunately the A/C had stopped working. Everyone was walking out of the club drenched in sweat. He was trying to tell everyone a HVAC technician was on the way, but know one listened. They were all heading to the club next door that put a sign in the window saying they had working A/C.
