Back to school, no A/C in class

Back to school, no A/C in class

Nick February 15, 2024

As if it isn’t hard enough to convince my children to go to school every year, every month, every single morning… I feel as though the school really isn’t helping me out… I spend so much time trying to persuade them that public school is really pressing and they need to take it seriously, but it sure doesn’t seem like the administrators at their institution feels the same way; Why else would they refuse to make minor changes that would vastly improve the quality of the building and encourage the children with added indoor comfort during their learning? I mean, from what I’ve heard, the school doesn’t even have current indoor air quality control, but the old building is operating a central heating and cooling system that was installed with the building way back in 1925.

That means this boiler has been in operation for nearly 100 years at this point! The A/C system was installed some time back in the 1969’s when indoor cooling systems were brand new technology! Both of the air temperature control systems seem to barely operate at this point; No matter if it’s winter season or summer, the school is constantly stagnant and uncomfortable, and my kids continually tell me about their indoor discomfort; whether they’re perspiring onto their math homework or shivering through english class.

I have trouble taking them seriously, but I’ve experienced the same wild indoor temperature during my frequent visits to the principal’s office. It absolutely is uncomfortable and hard to endure. As if public school isn’t terrible enough, this lack of current Heating and Air Conditioning device also puts kids at an unfair setback.
