Cold wedding

Cold wedding

Let’s run through the laundry list of things that I can’t stand… people flaunting their personal lives to the world and putting up a big facade pretending that they are living the ideal life – check.

Overt irresponsible spending for the sake of impressing other humans with no regard for the amount of money wasted – check.

Oh, and completely freezing indoor air thanks to artificial indoor cooling systems running at full blast? CHECK! Yes, all of my biggest pet peeves were fully present recently when I went to my second cousin’s big, expensive wedding. I already didn’t plan on going to the event, because frankly, my whole family is pretty cold. However, when I was convinced to attend I never dreamed that the entire environment would be so frigid, as well! I dressed appropriately for the warm summertime weather we were experiencing that weekend, pulling on a small dress that would be comfortable in the hot and heavy outdoor air. When I arrived at the venue, however, the indoor air temperature was anything but warm and humid. Instead, the property manager had cranked up the central cooling system to level 11 and also brought in a series of large fans to improve air circulation. I don’t know what sort of hot and sweaty event they thought they needed to cool, but they really over-thought the AC situation. I sat in my seat, rubbing my hands together and shivering throughout the entire 2 hour long ordeal. As if I wasn’t angry enough about the lavish decorations and stereotypical ceremony, the 60 degree indoor air temperature really made me hot under the collar.
