One of the easiest ways to catch my attention is with discounts or a deal of some kind.
My Grandma taught my mother how to sniff out the best deals and my mom passed this interest onto me.
It’s become a habit. I typically find myself pawing through the clearance bins, even when I wasn’t originally shopping for the items they are selling. I can’t say no to a bargain. Because of this, I have ended up buying a lot of stuff I don’t need. Even when I’ve gotten a great deal on various things, I spent money on items I could live without. I recently got hooked on a food delivery service because of a deal. I saw that the delivery fee is waived if I spend over $50 per week. I prefer to order meals online for the convenience of it. I figured this was another option for cutting some costs. My weekly order for meals sometimes add up to over $50 anyway. I assumed this as an opportunity for free meal delivery. When I went to place an order for local meal delivery, I realized that I wasn’t eligible for the free service. I hadn’t ordered enough items. I usually just order my dinners online. To reach the $50 amount, I ended up ordering lunch as well. When the delivery arrived, I was a little disappointed in the lunch items. The portions are much smaller than the dinner entrees. Instead of saving money, I spent more than I wanted to. I had more food than I wanted. Plus, the lunches were so small that I would start snacking afterwardy.
