How long does it take to adapt?

When I took the new job in my company, I knew I was going to need to relocate. I love the idea of moving to Arizona, but I didn’t think the move through. I wasn’t considering the fact that I was moving to the desert. I had been there for almost six months and I still was not acclimated to the climate. I was starting to worry that I would never get acclimated. I had lived in the Southeast and I thought that it would not bother me much moving here. I was so totally wrong. I went from hot and humid to hot and dry. The air conditioning helped to cool the air in the house, but it didn’t put any moisture into the air. The air conditioning I had in my home back in the Southeast, helped to draw the humidity out of the air. It didn’t really bother me in the house, because I did have the humidity with the air conditioners they have here. They have evaporative coolers that are made to put the moisture into the air. This makes breathing so much easier. My skin isn’t cracking and I don’t feel like I am about to turn into a pile of dust. I am having a lot of trouble when I am in my car. I need to have a huge bottle of water with me all of the time. Without the water, I quickly become dehydrated. I’m sure that if I could have an evaporative cooler hooked up in the car, I would be adapting much more quickly. I just don’t go outside much without my water bottle.
